What Customers Say About Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 Preferred [OLD VERSION]:

Today she can dictate or read pages of information with practically no word errors. Maybe one or two errors per full letter size page.A Great Product The software types as quickly as she naturally speaks. Janet uses it all the time and tells me she wished she had this a year ago. The product was a gift for my wife Janet, who does a lot of volunteer work for our church that requires a tremendous amount of typing. Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 is an outstanding product. The product was easy to install and easy to learn. As the software learned her voice, fewer and fewer words were incorrect.

this is goos but i dont hink it all that great because the wordsdont get picked up all the time

I paid-- and they still didn't resolve my problem. I haven't had to use tech support for this version, but it was infuriating on the old one. This software makes my job tons easier and doesn't frustrate me at all. But I still had a need for voice recognition software to transcribe interviews for my job, and frankly, Dragon seems to be the main game in town. my old version began inserting random periods and refusing to capitalize the beginnings of sentences. I've used two others since then (not expensive ones), all with good results.Four stars because their tech support is a joke.

No one should have to pay $9.95 to ask questions about their own (known) glitches. So I decided to give them one more shot. Far fewer glitches with this version, too. If you're hesitating because you haven't liked old versions, I suggest giving it a second shot. I wasn't expecting much.I was blown away. I had version 7-- and wrote a pretty scathing review on Amazon, if you care to look.

On the same computer with the same sound card and other equipment, I went from about 60% accuracy to at least 90% accuracy out of the box. I'm very glad I did.The headset-- it worked just fine, but it wasn't comfortable on my head.

If your harddrive fails, like mine did, you are stuck and out the $150 purchase price. As for me, I wiil NEVER buy another Nuance product. I guess twice is too often. I reinstalled the software but when I went to activate it, Nuance's terrible customer service said it had been activated too often. I used it for a year and would give it about 3 stars. I purchased a retail copy of DNS. Recently, however, I purchased a new harddrive. So, BEWARE, if you buy this product, you will NEVER be able to use it on any but the original computer.

has a really good product comparison of other headsetsIf you have some type of medical documentation for your RSI, some companies will give you a discount on either this or other plug-in software. Reviewers always recommend you get the Professional version because it really does offer so much more. But there's a new version now, so better to go with that. This distracts you from what you were originally doing.Things you'll have to get used to:Keep a cheat sheet nearby to quickly look up commands.Stop sneezing. No listening to music while working.Think about what you're going to say before you say it since you don't want to say the wrong thing and have to go back and fix it all.Stopping to add words to the dictionary (you should really read the instructions on this).Remembering the actual program window title if you want to quickly switch to another program (I'm used to hitting Alt+Tab and only then thinking about where I really want to go)Overall it's a decent program. Trust me, you definitely want accuracy. Ultimately, it's decent. Really. So sometimes there's only one company doing one thing and they don't really tend to make any effort because there's no competition. Patience required for Dragon to learn the way you speak. It's nice controlling Windows items like Start Button, menus, dialog boxes.Easy to pull up help menu with suggestions on commands and dictation help.Switch between program windows.Poor:No Firefox support (you need Version 10).No Illustrator/Photoshop support.Still buggy in understanding you sometimes, but again, you need patience.Command suggestions/dictation help window isn't laid out well or doesn't offer enough information because I still find myself digging through menus to locate the help I want.

I have a repetitive stress injury and bought this because, you know, $900 was too much to take. But there's also no one else out there and the program makes a good effort to achieve it's goal.Resources:[.]. I say 4 stars when taken into context because (1) there isn't anything else out there and (2) it still makes a good effort to accomplish its objectives. Nuance tends to make some good strides here.Good:Works pretty well for not launching you into a sci-fi type of experience. But if you've got the extra cash, go for it.I bought Sennheiser BW900 bluetooth headset to go with this which works really nice, but I think a high-quality wired headset or an uber-expensive stereo radio frequency headset would work a lot better.
